TILLEY, Thomas Worked circa. 1744-1779 London UK. Presumed pupil of Joseph Hill. Established in St. James’ from c.1744. Prolific maker, especially of cellos. Amatisé model violins also known. Fair workmanship but not of the consistent quality of Hill. Thin golden-yellow spirit varnish. Thos.
