John Dilworth

Christian Wilhelm Born 1815, d. after 1898 Klingenthal. Son of Johann Gottlob Seidel, below. Member of the violin makers guild from 1838. Neat professional work. Hopf model. Slightly narrow, with straight ‘c’ bouts, long upright soundholes, low arch, and flat and narrow edges. Also made a higher-arched Stainer pattern. Hard yellow-brown varnish. Some instruments with a superior red-brown coating. Branded below the back button and internally: ‘*Seidel*’ . Not labelled or dated.
