John Dilworth

Carl Gottlob Born 1789, died 1876. Son of Johann Georg Schönfelder (II), below. Member of the violin makers guild from 1811. Typical work of this family: very well-finished Stainer copies, the arching of medium height and not exaggerated in any way. Good clear golden-brown varnish. Very consistent, often using similar backs of one piece with narrow horizontal figure. Branded internally: ‘C*G*S’ Carl Gottlob Schoenfelder / in Neukirchen bey Adorf / Fecit 1814
