REYNAUD, André Worked circa. 1750-1766 Tarascon France. Priest and amateur violin maker somewhat in the style of Guersan. High arch with good materials and golden-yellow varnish. Fine violas on small alto model. Also rather small sized cellos. Andreas Reynaud Olim / Canonicus / fecit Tarascon en Provence 1754

A maker at Tarascon, 1754-66. In a violoncello, slightly arched, of a very graceful pattern with beautiful yellow varnish, was the label: “Andreas Reynaud ohm canonicus fecit a Tarascon en Provence, 1754”; another label was “Andreas Reynaud, olim canonicus Tarascone in gallo provincia, 1766”

Die wenigen Geigen, die man von ihm kennt, sind nicht besonders gut; dagegen müssen seine Violoncelli gelobt werden; eines davon wird geradezu als meisterhaft bezeichnet. Aus seinem Zettel geht hervor, dass er ehemals Geistlicher gewesen ist.
