REITER, Johann Baptist Born 1834, died 1899 Mittenwald Germany. Violin and bow maker. Pupil of Jais, and J. Vauchel in Würzburg amongst others. Director of the Violin Making School in Mittenwald from 1865. Classical models. Very fine workmanship. Good varnish and materials. One of the better 19th century Mittenwald luthiers.
