Im Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts gehörte er noch zu den von Geigern bevorzugten Italienischen Meistern. Seine Geigen müssen durch das Alter statt gewonnen verloren haben, da es sonst nicht begreiflich wäre, dass man gerade ihn einmal besonders schätzte; denn er war nur ein schwächlicher Amati-Nachahmer.
