John Dilworth

GRANIER, André (François André) Born 1881, died 1924 Marseilles France. Son and successor of Edmond Granier, below. Trained with Brugère and Louis Bazin in Mirecourt. Established with his brother Denis, below, in Marseilles 1922 as Granier Luthier. Violin and bow maker. Classical models. Good oil varnish in various tints. Some instruments made by employees. Branded beneath the tailpiece and fingerboard; also on ribs below endpin and on pegbox: ‘Granier’. Good bows on a personal model, branded: GRANIER à MARSEILLE Granier, Luthier / 14 Rue Paradis—Marseille / Fait en avril 1928.   No. 58 Granier, Luthier / 14 Rue Paradis—Marseille Granier, Luthier / Marseille.
