GRAND, Louis L. Born 1915 Detroit, Michigan, d. after 1976 Highland Rhode Island USA. Amateur maker with assistance from Harry Stoutenburgh and William Carboni. Active from 1964 in New Paltz, New York; retired to Highland, Rhode Island. Prize awarded at Violin Society of America competition 1976. About 25 violins and 40 violas on Stradivari models with commercial varnish and using local materials. [Wenberg]
