COLICHON, Michel Worked circa. 1670-1693 Paris France. Son of Nicolas Colichon, above. Celebrated maker of viols. Eight surviving gambas constitute a highly important body of work from the period. He was evidently informed by the English method of building instruments, constructing the front from several bent staves. Seven-string bass viol preserved in the Musée de la Musique, Paris dated 1683, another dated 1687 in the Sforzesco collection, Milan, and a 1693 example in the Musée d’Art, Geneva.
