John Dilworth

CERNY, Jan Born 1883, died 1962 Prague Czech Republic. Self taught violin maker, active c.1922-1950. Inventor of a new form of violin with soundholes placed in the middle ribs and bass bar and sound post replaced with his own patented devices. Won gold medals at Prague 1924, BrĂ¼nn 1928, and The Hague 1949. Also made conventional violins of Stradivari form.
