A maker of viols in Brescia about 1509. One of his instruments was exhibited at the South Kensington Museum, 1872 ; it had one round sound-hole, placed in the centre with four strings, and was labelled ” Pietro Zanure, Brescia, 1509.” Few of his instruments are known ; label are generally : ” Petrus Zanure Brixiae.”

Willibald Leo Lütgendorff

Eine Viola mit rundem Schallloch, nicht viel breiter als eine Pochette, die den Übergang vom Rebec zur Geige illustrirt, mit Zanure’s Namen besitzt George H. M. Muntz in Birmingham; sie war 1872 unter No. 106 im Kensington- Museum in London ausgestellt.
