SELLAS (SEELOS), Giorgio Born 1587 Füssen Germany, died 1649 Venice Italy. The Sellas name is an Italianisation of the German Seelos, and Matteo was the son of Michael Seelos of Füssen. Established in Venice c.1590 at the shop sign ‘alla Stella‘. A highly successful and influential lute maker. Around 1638 he also appears to have been active in Verona. [Pio]
