RIEDELE, Mathias Worked circa. 1760, died 1802 Augsburg Germany. Pupil of G. F. Wenger. Similar style, based on Stainer model. Neat workmanship and finish. Soundholes set close to the edge and upright. Finely carved concentric scroll. Dark intransparent varnish. Violas, cellos, and small pattern double basses also known. Manuscript labels: Mathias Riedele / Lauten- u Geigen- Macher / in Augsburg, fecit 1767 Mathias Riedele / lauthen und geigenmacher / fecit Augsburg anno 1783
